Deeper Connections, Fuller Lives

Addressing Complex Issues

Community Collaboration to Secure Food Access

About 1 in 4 clients who approach MWS Family Service Centre – Yishun (YFSC) seek urgent food assistance. Recognising the traumatic impact of food insecurity, MWS YFSC piloted Kopi Kids that allowed children from less privileged backgrounds to redeem free meals from hawkers and bakers in the neighbourhood. The project also included an urban farming educational workshop.

Strengthening Social Safety Nets to Increase Resilience

Under Community Link (ComLink), a nationwide initiative to support families with children living in rental flats, MWS Family Service Centres (FSCs) conducted needs assessment with 90 families to identify their top concerns. Based on the findings, MWS FSC – Yishun piloted Kopi Kids (please see above).

Attending to Impact of Financial Poverty

MWS Covenant Family Service Centre – Hougang & Buangkok conducted group work with 7 families affected by financial poverty. Participants benefitted from the emotional support of peers and facilitators, and learnt practical tips to tackle financial stress.

Meeting Basic Needs to Ease Financial Stress

MWS Family Service Centre – Tampines worked with Go With The Flow and Go With The Motion to provide sanitary pads and adult diapers for clients in financial distress, helping to ease their financial strains.
