Understanding the Experience of Family Violence Survivors in Medical Settings
As part of the work on understanding and addressing family violence (FV), MWS Family Service Centre – Tampines conducted research with individuals who received emergency care at a partner hospital after an episode of FV. Together, the teams explored how the hospital could incorporate more trauma-informed practices in FV screening and intervention.
Breaking the Cycle of Spousal Violence
With family violence cases in Singapore on the rise, MWS Family Service Centre – Yishun decided to work directly with the persons causing harm. Adopting the principles of trauma-informed care, the group work empowered participants with de-escalation techniques for positive change.
Trauma-informed Safety Planning for Medical Social Workers
MWS Family Service Centre – Tampines provided training on trauma-informed safety planning to medical social workers at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Participants were also made aware of the need for them to steward their own capacity to care when dealing with violence.
