Assistant - Welfare, MWS Girls' Residence

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to residents’ daily needs
  • Provide basic first aid to the residents and attend to their medical needs and health care in hostel (where applicable)
  • Assist to accompany residents to the polyclinic/clinic when required

  2. b) Coordinate on registration of training programmes for staff with training providers.
  3. c) Payment matters for all staff external trainings.
  • To coordinate between HQ and staff and to provide explanation on all training and sponsorship matters eg bond requirements, registration requirement with SNB for enrolled nurse/registered nurse Licensure Examinations, AHPC for OT/PT Qualifying exams etc.
  • To disseminate training news from various training providers to HOC and relevant department heads.

Prerequisites / Requirements:

Assistant - Laundry, MWS Bethany Nursing Home – Choa Chu Kang

Key Responsibilities:

Collection and handling

  • Collect linen trolleys from the wards at least twice a day
  • Wash Residents’ clothing, linens such as draw sheets, bed sheets, pillow cases and, patient care accessories e.g. mittens, heel protector separately
  • Ensure optimization of each washing or drying cycle
  • Use disinfectant or the assigned detergents for laundry which require special treatment to avoid contamination
  • Soak infected clothing with disinfectant and then wash in the washing machine at the required temperature to avoid contamination

Delivery and mending of clothing

  • Distribute clean Residents clothing, linens and patient accessories to the respective wards
  • Mend clothes and linen which are torn

Maintenance

  • Keep the laundry area clean, neat and dry at all times
  • Take necessary steps in the control and usage of washing detergents, disinfectant and bleach

Key Responsibilities:

Managerial

  • Manage the team to ensure that the integrity of the programme is maintained and assistance is delivered to the clients
  • Have an awareness of the team dynamics and ensure that there is cohesion and efficiency in processes
  • Able to do strategic planning and work plan for the team to meet its targets
  • Conduct mid-year and annual appraisals for team members

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess the needs of the residents; then develop the Individualized Care Plan (ICP) for each resident; follow through with appropriate intervention plans.
  • Conduct monthly meetings to discuss / plot the progress of the ICPs with relevant personnel within the organization.
  • Complete the Client Assessment and Support Tool (CAST) upon admission, during regular reviews, incorporate results into the ICP, and prepare detailed and comprehensive reports for submission to the MSF Review Committee.

  • Identify and assess the needs of the residents; then develop the Individualized Care Plan (ICP) for each resident; follow through with appropriate intervention plans.
  • Conduct monthly meetings to discuss / plot the progress of the ICPs with relevant personnel within the organization.
  • Complete the Client Assessment and Support Tool (CAST) upon admission, during regular reviews, incorporate results into the ICP, and prepare detailed and comprehensive reports for submission to the MSF Review Committee.
  • Work with Senior Welfare Officer on developing an appropriate system to reward as well as deny residents of privileges to modify their behavior positively. Jointly administer the program.
  • Review all admissions, discharges, escape from lawful custody and deaths.
  • Update residents address on NRIC and follow up with replacement of NRIC when required
  • Sourcing for jobs for able bodies residents who are capable of working outside of the home. Guide these residents so that they can successfully adapt to the working environment and the people around them.
  • Be involved in any court and / or police case involving the residents when the need arises.
  • Provide counseling sessions for residents who are ‘troubled’.
  • Assist in duties such as, accompanying residents to the bank or prospective employer, so as to establish a close rapport and helping relationship with them.
  • Develop and implement programme that will enhance the residents’ quality of life within the Home.
  • Establish indicators for residents’ performance and evaluate progress that will lead to successful outcomes.
  • Report to Assistant Manager on issues regarding residents
  • Any other duties as assigned by Management

Prerequisites / Requirements:

  • Diploma and/or Bachelor Degree in Social Work
  • 1-3 years of relevant working experience
Executive – Volunteer Management (Temp 4 months from Jan 2021), MWS Senior Activity Centre (Golden Lily)

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Engage volunteers, including those from partner churches, other community volunteer groups, schools, companies fulfilling corporate social responsibilities etc. to:
    • Plan, organize and run centre-based active-ageing programmes and interest groups
    • Participate in home-based Befriending service
    • Ad-hoc festive events

Volunteer Training and Development

  • Arrange and conduct training together with a team of volunteer trainers for volunteers in Communication skills, dementia awareness, chronic disease knowledge etc
  • Organise monthly meetings for volunteers to peer sharing and learning (Caregivers Club)
  • Administration of the time-banking scheme

Monitor the Work of Befriending

  • Coordinate outreach efforts with volunteers/volunteer groups to identify socially isolated seniors
  • Conduct baseline and review assessments of seniors requiring befriending
  • Facilitate matching of befriender-befriendees
  • Monitor the effectiveness of befriending through regular reports from befriender and feedback surveys from befriendees
  • Onward referrals to case management executive for service linkage and care coordination if necessary

Administration – assist the Manager to:

  • Design, implement activities and wellness programmes that focuses on building elderly’s self-help capacity including:
    • On-site active ageing programmes
    • Organising and participation in community events and outings
  • Ensure compliance to Finance and Human Resource Policies, maintaining documentation for audits facilitated by Corporate Services
  • Prepare data for submission to MOH and AIC which includes but not limited to:
    • Register of all volunteers, befriendees and home visits records
    • Register of Information and Referrals done for befriendee
    • Client satisfaction surveys

Prerequisites / Requirements:

  • ‘A’ Level holder with at least 2 years of relevant working experience, preferably in social service sector
  • WSQ Diploma in Community & Social Services (Senior Services) or Diploma in Social Service will be preferred
