With family violence cases on the rise in Singapore, its impact on children cannot be neglected. As children spend a majority of their time in school, school professionals play a vital role in identifying and responding effectively to family violence.
In early 2022, MWS Family Service Centre (FSC) – Yishun rolled out a Family Violence Toolkit to equip schools with knowledge on how Trauma-Informed Care can be applied in addressing family violence issues.
The Toolkit debunks myths about family violence and highlights tell-tale signs of violence in children. It also details how violence or the witnessing of violence could be traumatic to an individual, and the impact of trauma on children.
The Toolkit is part of the FSC’s many initiatives focusing on early intervention.
